Year 8 – 3 Year KS4 Survey
I would just like to thank all those parents who got involved in the recent survey regarding our thoughts on changing to a 3 year GCSE. I would like to share with you that from the parents who took part in the survey, 95% said they would support the proposal. I have read and shared all the comments with the Senior Leadership Team and they will be really helpful in shaping our way forward, although a final decision has not yet been made.
As a continued part of this process, I have today spoken to all Y8 students this morning in an assembly to explore how all students might respond to making these choices in Y8. They will all be asked to complete a ‘mock’ options form next week as a way of gauging how confident students feel about the subjects they might want to take as options – and to initiate preliminary thoughts about their aspirations for the future (Further/Higher Education/careers). It was made very clear to students that they will not be held to the choices made next week, but this is a way of us modelling how this process might work and to introduce students to the thought of making choices. We are also asking Form Tutors to start initiating discussions on this topic with their students during tutorial sessions.
If a decision is made to move forward with a 3 year GCSE, you will be fully involved in the Options process, including an invite to Option’s Evening, which would take place later in the Spring Term.
Many thanks for your continued support.
