Dear Parents and Carers
Travelling to and from school
We have received some concerns from local residents about students travelling to and from school. Please could you support with the following:
- Please do not drop off or collect your child by parking or turning on Landseer Road. If there are cars parked in the turning area by the green on Landseer Road or parked anywhere along that stretch to Reynolds Avenue it significantly reduces the visibility for students and puts students at risk. Last night we had complaints from residents about cars parked across driveways. Rembrandt Way is also a non drop off and pick up area please. Please park further away so your child can walk to you.
- Please could you remind your child they should be walking home from school with only one other person not in their household. School bubbles do not mean they can meet anyone within their bubble at any time. We have had concerns from residents of groups walking home together and gathering in areas in the community.
Over the next three days we will have completed the provision of three lateral flow tests (LFT) in school for all students. Please can we remind you to register the test result after each test.
Students will be issued with home testing kits in tutor time on the following days:
Tuesday: Year 9 and 11
Wednesday: Year 7 and College students
Thursday: Year 8 and 10 and Sports Academy students
These days coincide with their last test.
These tests are exactly the same as the ones the students have taken in school. The only difference is the need to process the results yourselves at home, and there are instructions within the packs to support you with this.
These tests should be taken twice a week, 3 to 5 days apart. We recommend they are taken on a Sunday night or Monday morning and a Thursday night/Friday morning to ensure we know everyone is negative at the start of the school week and at the start of the weekend for you at home.
In each pack, there are 3 individual tests. You will be issued with two packs now and more packs before the Easter break. At present, there has been no communicated end date for these tests, so please continue with them indefinitely for now.
There are also small plastic bags in which to place the used swabs and other pieces of testing equipment after each test is completed, and these can then be placed in normal rubbish bins for household waste.
You still need to register each test with the NHS by using this link (this is a slightly different website to before but the information submitted is the same):
You will also be required to register the result with the school using this form:
Please ensure the format of your child’s name is exactly the same as the name at the top of the letter you have received so that the result feeds through accurately into our systems.
Please email email@example.com if the result is positive.
In the case of a positive result, the student must stay at home and isolate, and you should book a PCR test in the community testing sites to confirm if the test was positive or not. The full household should also isolate until the PCR test is confirmed. Unlike the tests in school, a positive result requires a confirmation PCR test due to not being able to guarantee a controlled testing environment in homes as we have been able to do in school. This is advice from the DfE.
Please note, these home tests will need to be completed twice a week throughout the Easter break.
Return to school
We are pleased to have had a good return to school and the conduct of students during the testing process has been exemplary. We are very grateful to everyone involved in enabling the completion of 4500 tests to run so smoothly.
Thank you for all of your help with registering your results.
We are in the process of formulating our plan for establishing centre assessed grades for years 11 and 13 and will communicate this as soon as possible. We are still waiting for further advice and guidance from specific examination boards. At this time, students are completing assessed work on a regular basis to build up evidence.
