This letter is to keep you updated on the arrangements for year 11 students that are in place now and for the next few weeks.
Year 11 Assessment Timetable
In response to feedback received we would like to share with you our assessment timetable for the remainder of year 11. Students will be sitting these assessments at different times depending on when their normal lessons are. Therefore if you see, for example, History (D) written down, this means that students who study History in the D block will do their assessment at that time. Students who study History in other blocks will need to look for their own assessment dates.
Students will attend full time and to all normal timetabled lessons up until Friday 28th May.
After Half Term
The week after half term will be a part-time week when most students will not be in for full days. There are two assessments this week: Science and Maths. There will also be opportunities to catch up on any incomplete work or missed assignments.
The detailed timetables will be issued nearer the time but in general terms:
- Monday 7th June: All students are in periods 3, 4 and 5 with catch up possible during periods 1 and 2
- Tuesday 8th June: X band students are in from periods 1 to 4, Y band students are in from period 2 to 5. The science assessment takes place on this day.
- Wednesday 9th June: X band students attend periods 1 and 2 to complete their maths assessment and to have their school photo taken. For Y band students this will be in periods 3 and 4.
- Thursday 10th June: Will be a careers day with bookable sessions.
- Friday 11th June: Will be the year 11 leavers barbecue in the afternoon. Students will be issued with their leavers hoodies at the end of the barbecue.
Thank you for your responses to the survey as students and parents regarding leaving celebrations. Thank you also for your kind feedback. We appreciate decisions are not simple at this time. We have attempted to offer events at different stages of the roadmap so students have the maximum opportunities for celebrations.
The choice from the survey was for a year 11 prom event on the 1st July at Wivenhoe House Hotel. This will be in addition to holding the year 11 barbecue as mentioned above.
We have been offered two options at Wivenhoe House Hotel – one for the garden suite for a minimum of 100 students and one for the full venue for a minimum of 200 students. We now need a stronger indication of numbers so we can confirm we meet the minimum numbers. There is no deposit required at this point but this will be required with short notice once everything is confirmed in terms of lifting of restrictions.
Please could you now complete this form if you wish to request a place at the prom for your child. The deadline is Wednesday 5th May at 12 noon
The prom will only go ahead if there are enough students wishing to attend and if lockdown restrictions permit the event to go ahead.
GCSE results will be released on Thursday 12th August. We will be holding an onsite results day. On this day, students are invited to bring their school shirts, as by that point we hope all restrictions will be lifted and it will be possible for students to participate in shirt signing. We hope to provide ice creams. Sigma Sixth enrolment will also happen on this date. This again is all subject to the lifting of restrictions.
Thank you for your ongoing support and your timely response to our requests.
