Dear Parents & Carers
Important Information, please read carefully.
Action required regarding your child’s email account.
I am writing to you in these extraordinary times about the arrangements for this summer’s examinations results and year 11 leavers events.
Exam Results Day
Ofqual have confirmed that the exam result dates will remain as originally planned.
- GCSE and Level 2 BTEC results for year 11 will be available on Thursday 20 August 2020
However, the strict social distancing measures currently in place means that disappointingly, we are unable to invite students into school to pick up their results. Therefore, the process for receiving exam grades this year will be electronic. The results will be visible to students on Go 4 schools at 9am on the above dates. This year there will just be a single subject grade, no module grades or other details are provided.
Please be aware that results are the property of the candidate (student). It is important that results are not accessed by any other person, including parents, without the consent of the candidate.
If students cannot access results electronically on results day they can write a signed note authorising their results to be sent in the post. Please provide a pre-addressed and stamped envelope, this can be left with reception. Their results will then be posted to this address on the public release date above.
We will write again just before results day with further information on logging in, follow up after receiving your grades and the autumn resit opportunity.
Your child has been sent an email from our IT team with new login details. Please ensure your child has made a note of these by the end of Sunday 19th July to ensure they change their login details and are therefore able to access their results without any difficulties.
The response to providing entries for the year book has been very low and as such the cost of the year book can no longer be justified for the small number of entries in it. We cannot ask you to pay for something that will not be of a high enough quality. If you have paid for a Yearbook, we will arrange for your Parent Pay account to be reimbursed.
However, given this unprecedented year we will be publishing for each student photographs and messages from staff and the Head Girl and Head Boy as a memento of their time at Philip Morant. This will be emailed over the summer holiday.
The order for leavers hoodies is with our supplier and their latest estimate is they will be available for collection in September.
The government lifting of lockdown restrictions is still not enough to run any gathered leaving event or the prom. We are returning your deposit to you if you had paid a deposit for the prom and when we are able to arrange a date for this to go ahead, we will contact you again. We do wish to celebrate the time our year 11s spent with us at Philip Morant School but we cannot do that until it is safe to do so.
We will see many of you in September as your child joins Sigma Sixth and we are still accepting applications if this is a route that you had not previously considered. (Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org)
For those of you with children moving on to different destinations we wish them all the best in their future endeavours. We look forward to hearing about their achievements. Thank you for working with us at this difficult time and particularly to those students who have worked so hard on their year 12 transition tasks.
We will write to all students joining Sigma Sixth separately to advise on the arrangements for fully opening the school in September.
