This letter is about the arrangements that some parents make to drop off their children at school and/or pick them up later in the day. We understand entirely why parents would choose to do this and we accept that parents have every right to drive up to the school for these reasons.
However, it is important for you to know that we have seen a rise in the number of parents helping their children in this way. As you are aware the roads leading to the school are narrow and include sharp turns and tight junctions. We are concerned therefore that the narrow roads and the extra volume of traffic have increased the road safety risks to the children and staff who walk or cycle to school during the busy times of the day.
We should ask that if you are using your car to drop off or pick up your child that you find a place where this can be done safely and conveniently and one that is away from the school and the narrow roads that lead to it.
Your cooperation with this matter would be very much appreciated.
