Pastoral Care and Guidance Update
I hope you are all keeping safe at this time. Thank you for all your support with the new arrangements that are having to be put in place.
Over the last few months we have been considering a change from pastoral house leaders to year group leaders. The reasons for this include monitoring academic performance, the different phases of transition (starting year 7, options, post-16 plans), managing incidents in a year group including responding more quickly to friendship concerns.
With the closure position we now find ourselves in, it is even more important that we can use our Heads of House to support our students as they access their work remotely. This is more easily completed with a focus on one year group.
At Easter we have three new appointments to the house teams and so with the closure and these new appointments we have decided to make this change now.
From April 20th, your child will remain in the house they are currently a part of and will remain in the same tutor group, however their Head of House and House Manager will change. There will now be a Head of Year and Year Manager.
These will be as follows:
Year 7 Mr Stretch Mrs Clayton
Year 8 Mr Sowemimo Mrs Sullivan
Year 9 Mr Simpson * Mrs Corrigan
Year 10 Mr Abbott Mrs Collins
*New member of staff
In September each Head of Year and Year Manager will move up with their year group and Miss Lees will be Head of Year for year 7 and Mrs Russell will be Year Manager for year 7.
From Easter, as part of her new role as Assistant Headteacher, Mrs Hockridge will take responsibility for oversight of year 11.
When the school reopens there will be opportunities for students and parents to get to know these new staff. Whilst the school remains closed, the teams are working together to pass on information. We will ensure students continue to be well supported during the closure and when we reopen.
